Spanish Wine

Spanish wines are in a category of their own, with an abundance of varieties unique to Spain, and character entirely their own. When one thinks of Spanish wines, we think Garnacha, Tempranillo, Albarino, Syrah, Cava, Fortified wines like Sherry, and so on.

Perhaps the most famous is Tempranillo, which are often oaked, with soft tannins, red fruits, savoury, animal and vegetal, with medium tannin and acidity. Tempranillo styles are simple, Crianza means 1 year in oak, and 1 year in bottle. Reserve means 1 year oak, 2 years bottle. Gran Reserva means 2 years oak, 3 years bottle.
