Start from Sai Kung
Established since 2012, The Bottle Shop is a liquor store in Hong Kong that features the best liquor and drinks from around the world. We aim to be the one-stop-shop that offers high quality beverages at affordable prices, serviced by knowledgeable staff, with prompt liquor delivery.
Back when our shop first opened, liquor delivery was rare and the selections thin. However, there were enough people who cared for quality drinks to be encouraging in our development. We very quickly had the largest online selection of craft beers, a very decent wine selection, and probably the largest liquor selection in Hong Kong. Within a year around 2013, we opened our physical liquor store in Sai Kung.
Today, being the largest isn't our priority. Rather, we want to have the best curated liquor selection in Hong Kong. Most customers have preferences that require recommendations. Many of them therefore contact us via our online chat box, social media, email, or simply call us for advice. Our staff are trained to meet almost all requests from our customers, from passing on gift messages, through to corporate branding and packaging. It's no coincidence that The Bottle Shop is consistently voted as one of the best liquor stores in Hong Kong every year by multiple outlets like Time Out Hong Kong, Tatler, and so on.
We believe the craft liquor uprising came about around the late 1980s to 1990s, inline with the then anti-globalisation movement. As western societies, we began to understand the negative impacts of environmental degradations, cultural homogeneity, loss of identity, and exploitations caused by this trend. Global brands from sports wear, to fast food and fast liquor, were shunned as individuals embarked on the craft movement. It was around this time that we saw some of the most recognisable brands begin their journey, like Stone Brewing, Hendricks Gin, Cloudy Bay, Grey Goose, and so on. Amazingly, this craft beverage movement has remained strong for the past 30-40 years.
Today, craft beverages convey quality, terroir, attitude towards the environment, and social/cultural identity. Global transportation networks have allowed these niche products to become available in many places, as well as through liquor delivery. This phenomenon has given us a taste of liquors from both far and near. Today, ever more brands are joining this craft movement, and the quality continues to improve and the palate refined. Even for categories that are centuries old, new techniques combined with old concepts like natural fermentation, are inspiring new flavours. Where do we go from here as an industry? We'll continue to find new ingredients, new techniques, new technologies, that define our lifestyles as the world evolves around us. Operating a liquor store is therefore a continual process of evolution too.
Apart from the fact that we're beverage experts?? Ha ha - well, The Bottle Shop also wholesales a wide range of liquors to local restaurants, bars, clubs, and hotels. We have a close-knit circle in the industry and we're constantly exposed to the latest drink ideas. Given each bar and restaurant have their speciality of liquor, we're constantly speaking to experts in the field who tell us what they need. For instance, Jay from Coa taught us a lot about agave-based liquor like tequila and mezcal. He has inspired us to bring over brands like Los Javis Mezcal, Curado Tequila, and Orgien Raiz Mezcal. Others, like Toby from The Globe, told us to pursue certain breweries like Garage Project and 8Wired from New Zealand. Needless to say, it has been amazing to have craft liquor experts contribute to our liquor store in Hong Kong.
First of all, beverages are fragile items that require proper temperature control throughout their lifetime. Some liquor in Hong Kong deteriorates quickly in the heat and especially in the sun. When beverages are exposed to the heat during its delivery, it can also shorten its lifespan. That's why, as one of the premier liquor stores in Hong Kong, we deliver our liquor cold or chilled for almost every location throughout Hong Kong.
Our liquor store has two delivery options, standard delivery, and same day delivery. For standard liquor delivery - your parcel arrives between one to four days, but given we outsource our delivery to local logistics companies, we can't guarantee the time and day of your liquor delivery. Most of the time for standard delivery, you should expect to receive your parcel the next day if you order before 2pm. Standard delivery is free for orders of $680 and over. Whereas for same day delivery, our liquor store can guarantee your order will arrive the same day, (or the next day if you order after 4pm). Same day delivery is a flat fee of $250. For both delivery methods, our logistics partners should contact you a few hours before they reach your office or residence.
To do our bit for the environment, we package your liquor without the use of plastics. If you find plastics in the parcel, it has been reclaimed from previous packaging sent to us, and reused. The majority of packaging from our liquor store is cardboard, separating each bottle inside the parcel. You'll find nearly all the packaging materials from our liquor shop are recyclable or biodegradable. Unlike nearly every industry, we believe there's always a way to be environmentally friendly, even for high value and high risk liquor delivery.
Given Hong Kong has one of the busiest shipping ports, and favourable tax, the city has become a hub for craft beverages. We also see it as our duty as a liquor store in Hong Kong, to promote local crafts in order to support Hong Kong industries and businesses. The Bottle Shop has been a stable partner for consumers of quality liquor. From the humble online beginning in 2012 for liquor delivery, to our current shop in Sai Kung on the promenade, we're happy to stay single-minded, and focus on what we're good at to serve you better. If you need a gift to a friend, relative, or corporate partner, or just to enjoy a few drinks at home or for a party, our collection of liquor can serve any occasion. If you are still not clear on what's best, feel free to contact our liquor store any time, and we'll walk you through the selection process.
