The land on which Ruinart Champagne sits on today was actually purchased by Nicolas Ruinart after the establishment of the brand. The land was an ancient chalk quarry, reaching heights of almost 50 metres underground. The entire complex today houses twenty-four galleries and shafts that reach down to 38 metres underground. This vast network of galleries and shafts extend over an area of 8 kilometres. If nothing else, Ruinart Champagne has the most impressive complex in the region.
Since its inception, the brand has been associated with arts and craft. At first, the business was built on the backbone of Dom Ruinart’s brother’s clothing business, consumed as business gifts to cloth purchasers.
