This 100% Pinot Noir comes from our own vineyard El Maitén planted in 2008 in the cool coastal Leyda Valley, located at only 12 km from the Pacific Ocean. Its closeness to the sea makes it a unique spot for viticulture in Chile. The cool climate conditions during spring and summer due to maritime influence and ocean breezes affected by the Humbolt current, makes it an extraordinary area for the development of Burgundian varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
This Pinot Noir Single Vineyard own its name “Las Brisas” due it receives direct breezes (brisas) from the sea, which is also responsible for a slow ripeness of the clusters, originating pure fruit expression.
This wine is a result of a detail soil research, selecting only the poligons (small block division) that have pure granitic soils associated to iron, which are originated in situ, this means soils originated from the coastal mountain range. The main characteristic of granitic soils is to produce wines with vibrant and fresh palates, condition that is shown in this wine. Is one of the last Pinot to be harvested.
Strong cool climate Pinot character, expressive, with bright nose, red acid fruit profile such as cherries and raspberries, herbal and floral hints. In mouth it shows again the red fruit, with creamy texture nicely balanced with freshness and vibrancy, showing the real effect of Leyda’s granitic soils.
