Domaine Génot-Boulanger Vieilles Vignes Pommard 2014. Burgundy, France

HK$699.00

Domaine Génot-Boulanger is located in the town of Meursault, in Burgundy. The estate has 22 hectares of vines on the most beautiful wine-growing terroirs of Burgundy: Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault-Bouchères, Puligny-Folatières, Clos de Vougeot… The estate was created in 1974 by Charles-Henri Génot and his wife Marie, born Boulanger. The second generation, carried by their daughter, extended the vineyard to the Côte de Nuits with new acquisitions in three Grands Crus. Since 2008, it has been operated by Aude and Guillaume Lavollée. The couple focuses their qualitative approach on working the vines and more particularly on soil life (organic amendments, ploughing, etc.), followed by a new, less interventionist approach to winemaking. Aude and Guillaume Lavollée are constantly experimenting, closely studying the contributions of biodynamics and, strong in their convictions, decide to engage the estate in viticulture that respects nature and the soil. Domaine Génot-Boulanger has been certified in organic farming since 2018.

The Pommard Vieilles Vignes is made from three plots: Les Cras, Les Vignots and La Chanière. The harvest is manual and the grapes are destemmed. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Extractions are gentle with some punching down and pumping over. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 20% of which are new, then in vats for 6 months before bottling.
