Los Javis is a Oaxacan family owned and operated artisanal Mezcal distilled in the 'World Capital of Mezcal' Santiago Matatlán, Mexico. The story starts with two brothers, Javier and Jaime Mateo. In 1979, the brothers’ father, Javier Mateo, and his brother built a palenque, a mezcal distillery.
A small batch Mezcal made from the Karwinskii varietal, which is physically very distinctive from other agave types and looks more 'tree-like'. Each process of production is done according to traditional methods and all of this takes place in the family owned distillery in the heart of Oaxaca.
