Domaine Genot-Boulanger consistently produce excellent red and white Burgundy at a fair price relative to others.
Two Parisian pharmacists, Charles-Henri Genot and Marie Boulanger, moved to Meursault and purchased vineyards in Mercurey in 1974. By 1998, grandson Francois Delaby had inherited over 20 hectares of prime vineyard area in Burgundy. His son and daughter, the 4th generation, now run the Domaine.Viticulture and soil health are priority number one, and together they obtained organic certification by 2018, just 10 years after taking the helm.
Winemaking is non-interventionist, with part whole-bunch fermentation, depending on the vintage, indigenous yeasts and very gentle extraction techniques. Wines are matured in 20% new oak for 12 months in barrel and a further 6 months in tank. No sulphur is added to the whites after malolactic fermentation.
"Les Nosroyes" is French for walnuts. Walnut trees thrive in limestone soils and are sensitive to moisture, just like vines. Genot-Boulanger's plot is 1.13 hectare in the middle of the slope, just north of the village. Nosroyes is just under the Puligny-Montrachet premier cru "Les Perrières."
