The Chardonnay vines in this plot were meticulously planted in 1970, their orientation facing the north-east. The advantageous proximity to the Combes d’Auxey-Duresses, seamlessly extending from the plot, ensures a cooler microclimate. This geographical arrangement proves especially beneficial in warmer years, such as the notable vintage of 2018, allowing the wine to preserve a remarkable degree of freshness. Consequently, this results in a Meursault that exudes vivacity. To me, the defining characteristic of the Meix Chavaux terroir is its pronounced, crisp acidity—a quality I hold in high regard. This biting acidity, in my opinion, contributes significantly to achieving an exceptional balance in the wine.
