Nestled in the small town of Eichō Beppu, south of Kagoshima, Akayane Craft Distillery is the brain child of Satasouji Shouten. Aiming at spreading the culture of shochu to the world, they produce a wide range of shochu which fascinate both shochu lovers and beginners. A 2018 collaboration with Distillerie Metté starts a new page in Akayane’s book with the first release of a range of Japanese gins using a shochu base.
This gin is distilled from 6 botanicals including vanilla, juniper and shimeji mushroom. In Japan, this gin is also served warm, as it unfolds even more flavors.
